Menopause In the Workplace

Menopausal women are the fastest-growing demographic in the UK workforce, yet a 2022 survey by the Fawcett Society found one in ten women leave work due to their menopause symptoms. Square Marshmallows offers bespoke courses designed to support employers and employees to understand the impact on both and offers advice on how women can thrive and remain at work.

Making menopause an inclusive subject that no one is afraid or embarrassed to talk about helps make your business or organisation an easier and more comfortable place to work, giving employees the confidence to ask for help and support if they need it.

Square Marshmallows have seen conversations about menopause start to open up, and more and more companies and organisations introducing policies, support and guidance. This has created a platform for also talking about other women’s health issues, one of which is menstruation and menstrual health in the workplace.  But, we have also seen many women dropping out of the workplace and this has a massive impact on the individual as well as the organisation who are losing out on a significant amount of female talent and skill.


For many women in menopause, their symptoms are so severe that without support they will take themselves out of the workplace, and we need to encourage them to stay.  The same can be true of menstruation and associated issues such as complex fertility, pregnancy and baby loss.
