The story of Ecologi started one morning in 2019, when the co-founder Elliot picked up his morning coffee and wondered what would happen if he instead spent that money on addressing the climate crisis?

After disappearing down a few research rabbit holes, he realised that there were ample solutions already available to respond to climate change, and the world’s pocket change is more than enough to fund them. His idea just needed to galvanise support and turn into collective action.

Ecologi started as a subscription service for individuals, but has rapidly evolved into a passionate community of over 24,000 businesses and 40,000 members. And in the years ahead, Ecologi will focus on championing Small and Medium-sized Enterprises as green revolutionaries, empowering them on their journey to reduce emissions and take climate action.

Why is Ecology Important?

Ecology enriches our world and is crucial for human wellbeing and prosperity. It provides new knowledge of the interdependence between people and nature that is vital for food production, maintaining clean air and water, and sustaining biodiversity in a changing climate.

Governments and citizens around the world are increasingly aware of the consequences of atmospheric pollution and climate change. In large-scale experiments, plants and animals are exposed to carefully controlled atmospheres and different ecological conditions.

Scientists use this information to understand how they respond to pollution levels and male predictions about future climate change.

“Ecology is a science concerned with the interactions between living beings and between species. Understanding these mechanisms enables us to understand how our societies, and therefore our economies, interact with the environment. This means that we can transform our economies so that they respect planetary limits. In other words, we can’t take more from nature than it is capable of providing in a year.

Quite simply, we want to be part of a high-impact, high-integrity climate solution that seeks to fund tree planting projects across the globe. Each project that Ecologi is part of is carefully chosen by their Impact team for the benefits they bring to local people and nature, restoring habitats and supporting local livelihoods.

As part of our ethos, we have a deep passion to help engage, educate and empower individuals in bringing the best of themselves forward in the face of adversity and change, so why not extend this to our planet in some way.

Here comes the science - Tree planting is natural and effective. Biodiversity is the key to life on Earth, it is an infinite and fine-tuned network where every species depends on others to survive. Planting trees in addition to preserving existing forests, benefit ecosystems and their biodiversity. Healthy forests also improve air and water quality, provide food, medicine and fresh water, create wildlife habitats, stabilise soil, and reduce desertification and the risk of forest fires.

Like all plants, trees capture carbon from the atmosphere, and use it for growth, and some of that carbon is stored in the tree as wood and some enters the soil where it can stay for hundreds or even thousands of years.

Trees simply help us fight global warming (the effect of climate change) by reducing CO2 in the atmosphere, and on top of that it is an efficient and a 100% natural solution.
